BIG-U Project Officially Launched with Kick-off Meeting in Poland

The Erasmus+ Capacity Building in Higher Education project “Bridging the Internationalisation Gap in Ukraine’s HEIs (BIG-U)” has officially started with the Transnational Project Kick-off Meeting held on 26 January 2026 at WSB University in Dąbrowa Górnicza, Poland.

The meeting brought together representatives of all project partners and marked the official launch of the project, providing an opportunity to present the project objectives, discuss the implementation framework, and coordinate the first steps of the project activities.

During the meeting, partners reviewed the project’s objectives, target groups, and expected results, as well as the overall work plan and timeline. The session also included presentations of the project work packages, milestones, and deliverables, along with discussions on project management, financial implementation, quality assurance, monitoring procedures, and dissemination activities.

The kick-off meeting was complemented by a project workshop dedicated to strategies for internationalisation of higher education institutions, aimed at strengthening the understanding of internationalisation processes and their role in institutional development. The workshop addressed topics such as internationalisation strategies, internationalisation at home, digital and virtual internationalisation approaches, and institutional roles in internationalisation processes.

Participants also engaged in practice-based sessions focused on innovative approaches to internationalisation, including the use of gamification and design thinking methods for developing feasible internationalisation initiatives within their institutions. The workshop concluded with reflection sessions and discussions on how the outcomes will support the next stages of the BIG-U project.

The BIG-U project aims to support Ukrainian higher education institutions in strengthening their internationalisation capacities, fostering cooperation with European partners and contributing to the development of sustainable internationalisation strategies within the higher education sector.
